This historical fiction novel is a CBC Notable Children’s Trade Book in the Field of Social Studies, is on the California Library Association’s 28 th Annual Booklist of Titles Recommended for Young Adults, and won the Washington Press Association’s award for Juvenile Fiction as well as the National Federation of Press Women’s award.
